The Mock Turtle’s Story

I tell a tale to make you quail
Of fishes under the sea
They sent me to school
Took me for a fool
And took my identity

I used to be so young, so free
A turtle with shell of deepest green
And now that I feel
I’m really not real
Let me tell you what’s eating me

I’m from the school of fish
They put me in a dish
Now my fear is only
My life is a minestrone
No hope, not a ray
I’m soup in the evening
I’m soup of the day

Have you tried me? Mock Turtle Soup
Beautiful soup, Mock Turtle Soup
Come and taste me, Mock Turtle Soup
Beautiful soup, Mock Turtle Soup
Come and try me, what can I say?
Soup in the evening, soup of the day
